How can pre-med students use AI to review lectures?

Pre-med students can use AI to turn each science lecture into notes and flashcards the same day, and keep that material in long-term memory across the years between a course and the MCAT. NoteTube takes a lecture recording, a YouTube lecture, or the slide PDF and produces structured notes, flashcards scheduled with SM-2 spaced repetition, and practice quizzes with multiple-choice and short-answer questions. Because the cards come from your own coursework, the biology, general and organic chemistry, biochemistry, and physics you learn in class become a review deck instead of forgotten notes. You can ask the AI to walk through a mechanism or pathway from your lecture again. NoteTube is a study aid; use it alongside official AAMC MCAT preparation materials rather than as a replacement.

How It Works

How It Works
In 3 Simple Steps

Build your MCAT content review as you take the courses.

0101 / 03

Add the lecture

Record class, paste a YouTube lecture, or upload the slide PDF.

0202 / 03

Generate notes and cards

Get notes plus flashcards on pathways, mechanisms, equations, and definitions.

0303 / 03

Keep it fresh

Short daily reviews on a spaced schedule keep content from fading before the MCAT.

Should pre-med students start MCAT prep during coursework?

Much of the MCAT’s science content is taught in the prerequisite courses themselves, so the cheapest MCAT prep is not forgetting what you already learned. Without review, course material fades in the months or years before the exam, and dedicated prep turns into relearning. Turning each lecture into spaced-repetition flashcards as you take the course keeps that content alive with a few minutes a day. When dedicated MCAT prep starts, you are reviewing, not starting over.

Distributed practice is one of the best-supported findings in learning research: spreading study over time improves long-term retention compared with massing it (Cepeda et al., 2006).

How do I study organic chemistry lectures effectively?

Focus on mechanisms and practice, not memorizing individual reactions. After each orgo lecture, write down the mechanisms covered, then test yourself on reagents, intermediates, and products until you can draw them without looking. Flashcards are well suited to reagent and named-reaction recall; short-answer questions work better for explaining why a reaction proceeds. NoteTube generates both from the lecture, and you can ask the AI to walk through a mechanism step by step using your professor’s explanation.

Why do flashcards and quizzes beat re-reading lecture notes?

Re-reading feels productive but mostly builds familiarity, not recall. A landmark review of ten common study techniques rated only two as “high utility”: practice testing and distributed (spaced) practice, while re-reading and highlighting were rated low utility (Dunlosky et al., 2013). In a classic experiment, students who took a recall test on a passage remembered more of it a week later than students who spent the same time re-studying it, even though the re-studiers felt more confident right after (Roediger & Karpicke, 2006).

That is why NoteTube turns each lecture into flashcards scheduled with the SM-2 spaced-repetition algorithm and quizzes you can retake. Instead of re-reading a transcript the night before the exam, you answer questions drawn from the lecture across several days, which is the review pattern the research favors.
