Error 1 — Bile has enzymatic activity: Wrong: "Bile contains lipase and digests fats." Correct: Bile contains bile SALTS (not enzymes). It only emulsifies (breaks up) fat droplets. Pancreatic lipase performs actual fat hydrolysis. This distinction has been tested in NEET 2018, 2020, 2022.

Error 2 — Enterokinase is pancreatic: Wrong: "Enterokinase is secreted by the pancreas." Correct: Enterokinase is secreted by the DUODENAL MUCOSA. Trypsinogen (which it activates) is from the pancreas, but enterokinase itself is intestinal. Tested NEET 2019, 2021, 2023.

Error 3 — Glucose absorbed into lacteals: Wrong: "Glucose and fats both go to lacteals." Correct: Glucose → blood capillaries → portal vein → liver. Only FATS (as chylomicrons) go to lacteals → thoracic duct → bypasses liver. Tested NEET 2022, 2024.

Error 4 — Large intestine absorbs nutrients: Wrong: "Protein and carbohydrate absorption continues in the large intestine." Correct: Large intestine absorbs ONLY water and minerals. All nutrient absorption (glucose, amino acids, fats) is completed in the small intestine. NEET 2020, 2022.

Error 5 — Bile produced in gallbladder: Wrong: "Bile is produced in the gallbladder." Correct: Bile is PRODUCED by the LIVER and only STORED (and concentrated) in the gallbladder.

Error 6 — HCl activates trypsinogen: Wrong: "HCl activates both pepsinogen and trypsinogen." Correct: HCl activates PEPSINOGEN → PEPSIN (in stomach). ENTEROKINASE activates TRYPSINOGEN → TRYPSIN (in duodenum). Different enzymes, different activators, different locations.

Error 7 — Salivary amylase continues in stomach: Wrong: "Salivary amylase works throughout the GI tract." Correct: Salivary amylase is inactivated by stomach acid (pH 1.5–2.0 vs. amylase optimum 6.8). Activity stops at the stomach.

Error 8 — Kwashiorkor causes wasting (like Marasmus): Wrong: "Both Kwashiorkor and Marasmus cause extreme muscle wasting." Correct: Kwashiorkor = oedema + relatively preserved fat/muscle. Marasmus = extreme wasting without oedema. The oedema/wasting distinction is the definitive NEET differentiator.
