Beyond basic single-tower problems, JEE may test: (1) Observations from both sides of a tower — set up equations for both observers. (2) Moving toward/away from a tower — the change in angle relates to the distance moved. (3) Two towers of different heights — use the difference in heights and horizontal distance. (4) Observation from an elevated point (hilltop, building) — angles of depression to multiple objects. (5) Objects at an angle to each other (not on the same vertical line) — use the sine rule in the non-right triangle formed. In all cases, the strategy is: draw the figure carefully, identify all right triangles, assign variables to unknowns, write trig equations, and solve the system.
