Mean deviation = sum, where A is a central value (usually mean or median). MD about the median is always <= MD about the mean. MD is less commonly tested in JEE compared to variance/SD, but appears in the "measures of dispersion" conceptual questions. Unlike variance, MD uses absolute deviations, making it less amenable to algebraic manipulation.
